Terms & Conditions

SAUNA INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

 

Please adhere to the following Guidelines for Sauna use at all times: 

 

  • Do not eat 1 hour before you Sauna

  • HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE - Drink plenty of Water before,during and after your session

  • Drink WATER ONLY in the Sauna room

  • DO NOT adjust the heat setting during the session as this can tamper with the heat settings 

  • If it gets too hot, then leave the Sauna for a few minutes and then jump back in when you can do so

  • DO NOT use any lotions, make-up, oils or chemicals prior to the use of the Sauna. These items may block pores and affect perspiration as well, stain the wood in the Sauna and cause irritation to other guests

  • DO NOT eat in the Sauna room

  • DO NOT enter the Sauna room before your appointment time

  • DO NOT stay in the Sauna past your allocated time frame 

  • Once you enter the room, press the Green Power button and it will be set at 55 minutes. It will take around 10 minutes to heat up. You will then have 45 minutes of Sauna time. Once the session has ended press the Power button off and you then have 5 minutes to exit the room

  • There are complimentary towels for use

  • Each Sauna guest is entitled to 2 towels and 1 Bath mat

  • Please ensure there is a clean towel for you to sit on and another towel to wipe your body with. The smaller bath mat is used for the floor inside the Sauna

  • Please put dirty towels in the Laundry hamper once session has ended

  • Do NOT cover towels over the heater vents as this may affect the operation of the heater and may result in damage

  • Please leave Sauna as you found it - feel free to use an extra towel if you need to wipe down the bench seats before you leave

  • Maximum of 4 people at a time to be inside the Sauna (This is to be booked through the Group session booking and price is per person)

  • NO CHILDREN allowed in the Sauna room

  • Please turn Green Power button off once session has ended

  • Please ensure you leave the Sauna door closed after your session has ended and please check this before you leave the room

  • Sauna booking times will be available from 4am - 10pm. (10pm being the last available booking), Monday to Sunday. If you book outside of business hours (9am - 5pm) then you will need to be an Aventus gym member. Please book a minimum 6 hours in advance before the time of your booking, as an offline access code needs to be manually sent to you so you can access the Sauna room.


PRECAUTIONS / CONTRAINDICATIONS

 

If any of the apply to you, consult a Physician prior to Sauna use:

 

  • MEDICATIONS

  • Individuals who are using prescription drugs should seek advice from their personal physician since some medications may cause drowsiness.

  • Diuretics, barbiturates and beta-blockers may impair the body's natural heat loss mechanisms. Some over the counter drugs such as antihistamines may also cause the body to be more prone to heat stroke.

 

  • CARDIOVASCULAR ISSUES, OBESITY OR DIABETES

  • Individuals with cardiovascular conditions or problems (hypertension / hypotension), congestive heart failure, impaired coronary circulation or those who are taking medications, which might affect blood pressure, should exercise extreme caution when exposed to prolonged heat. Heat stress increases cardiac output, blood flow, in an effort to transfer internal body heat to the outside environment via the skin (perspiration) and respiratory system. This takes place primarily due to major changes in the heart rate, which has the potential to increase by thirty (30) beats per minute for each degree in core body temperature.

 

  • ALCOHOL & DRUG ABUSE

  • Contrary to popular belief, it is not advisable to “Sweat Out” a hangover. Alcohol intoxication decreases a person’s judgment therefore they may not realize it when the body has a negative reaction to high heat. Alcohol also increases the heart rate, which may be further increased by heat stress.

 

  • CHRONIC CONDITIONS / DISEASES ASSOCIATED WITH REDUCED ABILITY TO SWEAT OR PERSPIRE

  • Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, Central Nervous System Tumors and Diabetes with Neuropathy are conditions that are associated with impaired sweating.

 

  • HEMOPHILIACS / INDIVIDUALS PRONE TO BLEEDING

  • The use of Infrared Saunas should be avoided by anyone who is predisposed to bleeding.

 

  • FEVER & INSENSITIVITY TO HEAT 

  • An individual that has a fever or has Insensitivity to heat should not use the Sauna.

 

  • PREGNANCY

  • Pregnant women should consult a physician before using the sauna as fetal damage can occur with a certain elevated body temperature.

 

  • JOINT INJURY

  • If you have a recent (acute) joint injury, it should not be heated for the first 48 hours after an injury or until the hot and swollen symptoms subside. If you have joints that are chronically hot and swollen, these joints may respond poorly to vigorous heating of any kind.

 

  • IMPLANTS 

  • Metal pins, rods, artificial joints or any other surgical implants generally reflect infrared waves and thus are not heated by this system. Nevertheless, you should consult your physician prior to using.

 

  • COMMUNICABLE SKIN DISEASES

  • Even though the warm up time of the Sauna - before the user enters - is said to desiccate bacteria and thereby sterilize the sauna, we would ask that sauna users who have any communicable skin diseases, refrain from using the sauna.

 

  • HEART CONDITIONS

  • Sauna use is not recommended for persons with the following conditions: 

Unstable angina which is insufficient flow of blood and oxygen to the heart, recent myocardial infarction (30 days) with symptoms of chest discomfort and nausea and severe aortic stenosis which makes your heart work harder to pump blood to the rest of your body.

 

IF YOU FEEL UNWELL, DIZZY OR LIGHT HEADED, PLEASE LEAVE THE SAUNA IMMEDIATELY.

 

NO REFUNDS. In extenuating circumstances, a session can be rescheduled if 24 hours has been provided. In order to reschedule, you must have an account by logging in or signing up via our website. If you do not have an account at the time of purchase, you will be unable to reschedule. To reschedule, log into your account and go to the 'My Bookings' to reschedule. A minimum of 24 hours before your booking is required to reschedule.

 

Release of Liability: As a participant of Infrared Sauna sessions @ The Hideaway, 

I understand and accept the risks that may be involved during the use of the Sauna.

I agree to assume the risk and responsibility for any personal injury or damages suffered by me arising out of my participation or whilst on the premises. It is my personal responsibility to consult with my doctor regarding my participation if there is a medical concern.
